About me

Alessandra Potenza, born in Rome in 1990, is a free spirit traveller and writer. She loves reading, eating chocolate, spending time with her friends and her family, buying hoes and creating stories. Alessandra is currently pursuing her BA in Communication, with a minor in English writing, at the American University of Rome, where she will graduate in May 2011. Her dream is to become a renowned journalist and winner of the Pulitzer prize.

So far, Alessandra has worked as a web editor and writer for National Geographic Italia, and as a report for Il Manifesto, an Italian national newspaper. She’s currently working as a web editor for Limes, a very famous Italian geopolitical magazine, where she has just published her first article. In April, she will intern at Vatican Radio, for the 105 live channel.

Alessandra has also just published her first book, a diary novel titled “Dal Punto di Vista di Giulia” that she wrote when she was 12. She presented the book on November 4, 2010, in Genoa and on January 21, 2011, in Rome.

Alessandra has collaborated with several magazines, both in print and online, such as Spazio&Porti, La Voce della Val d’Arzino and Labsus, where she has published an article about her research on the changes of journalism. Last but not least, she is really proud of the blog she maintains with her boyfriend, Massimo: http://160caratteriperdirlo.blogspot.com.

In August, she will begin her Master of Science in Journalism, with a specialization in Magazine Journalism, at Columbia University in New York.
